Alaska, New York, Alaska New York!"  A petite woman with blond hair that appeared to be white, Mrs. Loaiza my 7th grade teacher was mocking me how far the distance between New York City and Alaska. Quick Question: Are there Ursus Americans and/or Black Bears in New York? (The City not the State!) Well that's what my teacher and I were arguing about. A sullen room that was darken and the only light is the over head projector. Fatigue teens are trying to comprehend what their teacher is saying. Their teacher isn't tedious it's just the dark room makes a great mood to nap. Mrs. Loaiza tries to cheer them up by talking about her trip to the big apple! New York City! According to Mrs.Loaiza the citizens in New York don't have garbage cans. To throw away their garbage their only choice is to throw it in the streets. I'm just sitting there in bewilderment thinking Wow, so the little animals eat the garbage in the streets like black bears in Alaska eat from the trash cans. Instead I said "And the bears?" I'm in the front so she heard me loud and clear. In the back ground you can hear people laughing. I'm just sitting in the front row perplexed still waiting for my answer. Mrs.Loazia finally said from the giggles "What about bears?" She was staring at me like I said something random and just looked at me like I was a lunatic. I finally managed to say "Don't they eat the garbage in the streets?" Everyone is still laughing at my remark and I just sat there sad and confused. Mrs. Loaiza said through the laugher "There's no bears in New York!" Realizing what I said and remembered what I thought!  "Oh sorry I mean Alaska not New York." Hopeful this will all go away and we can start math. And besides there is bears in Alaska and she'll "O.k." and it'll end. But no. Instead she said "There's no bears in Alaska either!" Now I'm thinking Does she ever watched Animal Plant! Of course there is!" I said with full confidence "Wait...Yes there is!" The little blond said "No there's not. Bears could live in the state but never in the city!" People (laughing of course) were staring at me like I was insane. But I wasn't going to give up! I had the black bears (and my) reputation on the line!  So stop my demise and the madness I said "Fine, Fine there's no bears in New York" "Good girl now lets work on math." She might have won the battle but I'll win the war! A couple of weeks later we had to write a story that shows some sort of time growth. Now's my chance. My friend and I wrote a story about a Black Bear named Smokey, who lived in Alaska. Smokey heard that in Chicago a certain math teacher said that bears can't live in New York. To confute her he went on a plane to New York. He lived there for 2 years. And went to Chicago to stare (more like staking) at her for the rest of her life! When she read it she said "Ok that was funny" I won, but the "The Bears in New York" haunts me for the rest of my life. When there's something bear related a classmate will look at me and with a smirk say "Hey Yulissa are their bears in New York?"  I say "Yes!" But they just laugh……………
